I came across this article in the New York Times which seems to lay out the case for abstinence before marriage (“Students of Virginity”) from a secular perspective – though Christians are present in the movement. It’s weak people who are promiscuous, they say, and strong people respect themselves, others, and God with their bodies.
Of course, Christians are for more things than they’re against. But, it’s interesting that the issue is coming up now in our sexualized culture.
